The 100-year-old carousel at North Tonawanda's Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum has been reassembled and is back in operation after it was taken down for repair.

Last winter, the main hub at the center of the carousel cracked. In order to repair the carousel, it had to be completely disassembled and a new part was cast, which cost $40,000.

To pay for the repairs, the museum raised donations from the community. Currently, approximately $37,000 has been raised, leaving the museum needing $3,000 to reach its goal.

Donations can be made via the museum's online GiveGab campaign until June 23 at www.givegab.com/nonprofits/herschell-carrousel-factory-museum/campaigns/help-us-restore-our-carrousel.

Donations via check can be made to the museum at any time at 180 Thompson St., North Tonawanda, NY, 14120.
