What better way to raise awareness for a good cause than with a little line dancing and country music?

The Amanda Hansen Foundation is hosting its first "Jamboree in the Falls" concert from 6-10 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Rapids Theatre on Main Street in Niagara Falls.

"We are extremely excited to partner with the Rapids Theatre on this great event," said Ken Hansen, president of the Amanda Hansen Foundation. "We were trying to find one really big event to bring awareness to our foundation and I think this just might be it!"

The Amanda Hansen Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission of seeing that no one loses a loved one to carbon monoxide poisoning. Ken and Kim Hansen started the Amanda Hansen Foundation in 2010 after losing their beautiful daughter, Amanda, to CO poisoning. Amanda slept over a friend's house that had high levels of CO in the home and her life was taken that very next morning.

"We never got to say goodbye," Ken Hansen said.

Since that day, the Hansens have bravely stood up in front of the community and made it their mission to find funding to purchase CO detectors for those who cannot afford them. They have also traveled the world to raise awareness of the dangers of CO poisoning, while advocating for laws that would protect the innocent from this silent killer.

"We have to do everything in our power to ensure that this doesn't happen to another family again," Ken Hansen said.

The "Jamboree in the Falls" concert will help raise the funds necessary to further purchase CO detectors for those in need.

Two local bands - The Marshall Dillon Band and Dark Horse Run - will perform. There will be a cash bar, 50/50 raffles and free pizza. Pre-sale tickets are $20 for one ticket or $35 for two, and can be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jamboree-in-the-falls-tickets-24848466432 or by visiting www.AmandaHansenFoundation.org.

"We hope to see you all there for a great time to remember our daughter Amanda," Ken Hansen said.
