Steve Tasker hosts self-leadership experience at Canisius College

The Canisius Center for Professional Development and the School of Education and Human Services at present "Steve Tasker's Self-Leadership Experience," a three-day leadership camp for high school-age students. The program will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, through Thursday, July 28, on the Canisius campus.

Best known as one of the greatest special teams players in NFL history as a member of the Buffalo Bills, Tasker will draw from his professional experiences on and off the field to help motivate and inspire students during the summer leadership program. Topics covered will range from public speaking and effective networking to ethical decision-making, goal-setting, how not to ruin your reputation on social media and how to be a team player.

Tasker will kick off the camp each morning with a welcome and leadership message, along with an overview of the importance of the day's topics. At the conclusion of the leadership experience on Thursday, July 28, Tasker will award certificates of completion to participants.

The cost for the "Steve Tasker Self-Leadership Experience" is $295 per participant. A discount rate of $250 is available to children of Canisius alumni and participants who register in groups of two or more. The cost for the "Steve Tasker Self-Leadership Experience" includes snacks, lunches and a copy of the book "10 Things We Should Teach You in High School but Usually Don't," written by Pete Herr. An award-winning educator, Herr spent the past 20 years educating and mentoring high school students.

In addition to Tasker, Herr will serve as one of four leadership coaches throughout the camp. The three other leadership coaches are Danielle DelMonte, owner and founder of PrepStart Consulting LLC, an independent college admissions and career development consulting practice; Adam Page, a two-time gold medalist at the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, and Vancouver, British Columbia; and Tamara McMillan, an award-winning professor, TEDx speaker and blogger who specializes in leadership and women's issues.
