The Pasta Sauce-Off was another big success for its teenage co-founders.
Jessica Flash and Allyson Nemeth led their club, Cooking for Cancer, to another record-breaking fundraiser for Carly's Club of Roswell at their third annual Pasta Sauce-Off, held Saturday at the LaSalle Yacht Club.
Flash and Nemeth, 13-year-old students at St. Stephen School on Grand Island, cooked up the idea for a club a few years ago and raised $5,000 at last year's event. So far, they have raised $6,072 in the 2016 edition.
"We want the community who has been so generous to know what a success this event was, and how much we appreciate their generosity and support," said Sandy Flash, Jessica's mother.
Carly's Club for Kids & Cancer Research in WNY exists to offer support programs to make life more manageable for families with a child diagnosed with cancer. The club raises funds for pediatric cancer research seeking cures at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
The event also included a 50/50 raffle, basket raffle, silent auction and a bake sale.
