Center Cut: The Village Steakhouse

453 Center St., Lewiston

A good steakhouse is hard to come by, so when Center Cut opened on Center Street in Lewiston last year, carnivores were delighted. For those who aren't in favor of the turf, there's plenty of surf being dished up, as well.

Only hand-selected steaks with the highest grades of USDA choice and prime from Nebraska are served, and it's evident on the plate. Steaks are prepared perfectly and satisfy eaters.

Fresh seafood is received daily. Choose from raw oysters, shrimp, scallops, sea bass, tuna, lobster or crab. The Chilean sea bass is pan-roasted and topped with basil pesto - a light meal with heavy tastes. The ahi tuna, fresh from the Pacific, is another excellent choice. Its pairing with the soy and ginger dipping sauce is an ideal marriage.

A side of baked macaroni and Boursin cheese, with white cheddar, chives and bacon, is suggested with any main course.

If sitting in the rustic and cozy dining room isn't an option, the bar is an excellent choice. With a separate menu, it's a great time with upscale pub food.

Don't forget the provisions. Center Cut is a scotch drinker's paradise, with a separate menu of blends and more. There are also signature martinis and an extensive wine list. The Hahn chardonnay (California) is a perfect pour with the seafood.

Steak by Tony Roma's.

Tony Roma's

114 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls

Tony Roma's may be a chain restaurant, but its menu and atmosphere do not depict anything cookie-cutter. With over 150 locations on six continents, Tony Roma's is one of the most globally recognized names in the food and beverage industry.

This full-service, casual dining family restaurant dishes up family-friendly favorites in a jovial and fun setting.

When dining with a Wonder of the World just steps away, it's only appropriate to sample an architectural "wonder" on a plate, so try the famous onion loaf. Stacked high with dipping sauce in the middle, it's the perfect way to begin lunch or dinner.

For a lighter choice, any of the chicken dishes will do. The grilled chicken and fire-roasted vegetable salad may be a starter, but it could also act as a meal. Served with cheesy bread, it's a dieters delight with a treat. The fire-grilled harvest valley chicken is also another excellent choice and has patrons saying they'll order it again.

If craving red meat, the filet medallions are grilled to perfection with a delicious layer of butter, and they come with a choice of three gourmet toppings. The mushroom and onions is a wise choice. Served with a loaded mashed potato, it's more than a meal.

Tony Roma's is conveniently located inside the Holiday Inn Niagara Falls. Open seven days a week, it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Chicken by Lombardi's.

Lombardi's Trattoria

36 West Ave., Lockport

Lombardi's Trattoria might be newest kid on the block, but its dishes are prepared from old family recipes.

David Herl, John and Della Lombardi recently opened this casual dining establishment to showcase their combined years of experience, and share their passion for family and good food with every patron.

Dine-in, take out or have Lombardi's cater your next event. Its time-tested Italian dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients - and there are some innovative selections to choose from, as well.

Taste the flavorful dishes from the old country or delight the taste buds with classic favorites. A rule of thumb when reviewing a restaurant: Quality is often determined on its soup. Well, the French onion soup at Lombardi's possesses the classic beef broth, caramelized onions and a combination of Provolone and Parmesan cheeses perfectly melted over top, making a cup or a crock a must-try.

The pecan-crusted chicken is also an excellent choice, accompanied by green beans prepared with garlic. They have a sweet flavor that will have everyone eating their vegetables. Traditional salads are also fresh and work well as starters, or the Scirati and Lombardi salads may be enough for a dinner themselves.
