The Lewiston-Porter School District announced the kindergarten registration process for students entering school this fall will get underway in coming weeks.

"We are delighted to welcome you and your kindergartner to our program," said Tamara Larson, principal of the Lewiston-Porter Primary Education Center. "The first step toward the kindergarten adventure is the registration process."

She reports parents of children who will be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1 may register their child on the following dates:

•Tuesday, March 10, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.

•Wednesday, March 11, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.

It is not necessary for parents to bring their child to this registration, as they will be invited to a kindergarten orientation event in May.

Parents will need to furnish the following at time of registration: proof of age; the child's birth certificate and/or passport; parent photo ID; a driver's license and/or passport; and proof of residency. This may include two of the following documents: vehicle registration, vehicle insurance card, utility bill, medical insurance card, homeowner's insurance statement or payroll document.

Other acceptable documents are a lease, purchase offer or letter from a homebuilder on the firm's letterhead. These documents must be signed and include the resident's name, district address and closing date and/or certificate of occupancy.

Parents will also need to furnish a record of immunizations for their child at time of registration. All documents will be photocopied and returned to the parent.

For more information, parents may call the Lewiston-Porter Primary Education Center office at 716-286-7220.
