United Materials presented its pink concrete truck for breast cancer awareness at its company headquarters on Forest Parkway in Wheatfield Sept. 4. The truck also was part of the Niagara County Peach Festival Parade last weekend.

Shown at the dedication ceremony, from left, are Peter Romano, president and CEO of United Materials; Donna Franasiak, breast cancer survivor; and her husband, Kenneth Franasiak, chairman and CEO of Calamar.

The truck was presented to Donna in honor of her recent surgery for breast cancer and for all women who suffer with this disease daily. Romano is donating a portion of the proceeds that are generated through the manufacturing and supplying of concrete with this special mixer to the cause.

NFP is producing a Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness section with a portion of the proceeds going to Susan G. Komen. This section will be in the Tribune, Lewiston-Porter Sentinel and Island Dispatch the first week of October. The opportunity to contribute to this cause is open to individuals and businesses. For more information, call 716-773-7676 or visit our homepage and download the PDF.

Komen is working to end breast cancer through research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs.
