Unit manager Sheri Pugh, RN, left, and certified nursing assistants Barbara Adams, center, and Lucy Rhinehardt prepare a newly renovated room for the next short-term rehab patient at the Schoellkopf Health Center. The center, located on Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center's downtown campus, recently completed a $350,000 floor-to-ceiling makeover to the patient lounge and 12 single-occupancy rooms on its Rooker Rehabilitation Unit.

The upgrades will benefit patients who come to Schoellkopf for brief convalescent stays. Short-term rehabilitation is often prescribed for stroke patients as well as people recovering from orthopedic procedures such as knee or hip replacements.
