Memorial names Vicki Smith director of women's services

Vicki Smith, MS, RN, WHNP-BC, EFM-C, has been appointed director of women's services at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Her appointment, which is effective immediately, was announced by Memorial Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer Joanne Krolewski, RN, BSN.

Smith is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she earned a post master's degree in the women's health nurse practitioner program; D'Youville College, where she earned a Master of Science in community health nursing - education track; and Niagara University, where she was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

She recently completed a two-year stay as a faculty fellow in the department of nursing, College of Arts & Sciences at Niagara University, where she taught numerous classes relating to nursing skills, health assessment, women and children's health, family health nursing and information technology.

Her patient care experience includes two years as clinical nurse specialist and five years as nurse manager of women's services at Sisters of Charity Hospital, Buffalo. She previously served as director of women's services at Memorial, when she oversaw the opening of the Mary C. Dyster Women's Pavilion, opened specialty clinics to address the high-risk needs of the community, and developed what continues to be a highly successful lactation program for new mothers.

Smith is certified in electronic fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation and advanced life support obstetrics. She is a member of the Association for Women's Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses.
