Students from Grand Island High School came out to Byblos Niagara Resort & Spa on Thursday, Feb. 13, with resumes in hand waiting to hear those very words: "You're hired!"

More than 30 educators, business, and community members were there to help make those words a reality. The Grand Island High School Business Department in conjunction with Grand Island School and Business Alliance sponsor Job Search Seminar every year to assist students with the interview process. This year, parents of Grand Island students and local business members Fahim Mojawalla, Ilia Beecher, and Whitney Bower were on hand to present seminars on job interview techniques.

Cheryl Chamberlain, business teacher and coordinator of the event, was delighted to see her former students serve as interviewers: Erin McKenna Durante from KeyBank/Junior Achievement; Savanna Kustra from Victorinox; Anthony Massaro, owner of RigaTony's; and Joe Menter, supervisor of the Grand Island Town Recreation Department.

"It is wonderful to see these Grand Island graduates doing well and helping current students improve their career skills," said Chamberlain.

Job Search provides students with authentic interview experience and some businesses come out to hire the students. For more information on Job Search and other business-oriented events, contact Chamberlain at 716-773-8820.
