While the Winter Olympic Games are happening in Sochi, Russia, classes at Doodle Bugs! Children's Centers are supporting another group of athletes gearing up to compete here in Western New York.

The school-age students at the Clarence Doodle Bugs! Children's Centers location created inspirational cards and signs to support the Western New York region of Special Olympics on Friday, Feb. 7. The students researched the athletes participating in the Special Olympics games through the organization's regional website.

"With February being the month of the Winter Olympic Games, we wanted to find a group of athletes to cheer on and inspire as they participate in the games. When researching athletes, our students were completely inspired by the New York State Special Olympics and wanted to show their support by writing inspirational letters and signs," said Molly White, director of the Clarence Doodle Bugs! center, located at 8584 Sheridan Drive.

The New York State Special Olympic winter games are being held in Syracuse later this month. The athletes should receive the students' cards and signs prior to then.

Doodle Bugs! Children's Centers cares for and educates children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age, including preschool/pre-K and summer camp programs.
