Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for Nov. 8, 2013

The Erie County Sheriff's Office responded to 148 calls from Oct. 19 to 25. Below is a sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island.

Deputies responded to ten burglary false alarm calls and two fire alarms during the dates of this report.

Saturday, Oct. 26

•Greenway Road, pistol permit investigation - Deputies conducted a background check for a subject who applied for a pistol permit.

•Briarwood Lane, pistol permit investigation - Deputies conducted a background check for a subject who applied for a pistol permit.

•Briarwood Lane, pistol permit investigation - Deputies conducted a background check for a subject who applied for a pistol permit.

•Fix Road, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent days, someone damaged a tractor that was parked on his property.

•Whitehaven Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that some property of hers was missing from a storage facility and she believed that a moving company she recently hired was responsible for the theft. The complainant contacted the moving company after speaking with patrol and the computer was located and returned to the complainant.

•Waterford Park, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that she and a friend were looking for her lost phone during the late evening hours when a male subject approached them in a vehicle and chased after them. Deputies located the male subject and his vehicle nearby and the subject thought the complainant was attempting to break into cars. All parties were advised.

Sunday, Oct. 27

Sawmill Run, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that a neighbor was tearing down a section of his own house and seemed to be dumping the refuse on another person's property. Deputies spoke to the neighbor, who was piling up the debris for later removal when he could obtain a large enough dumpster.

•Legion Drive, open door - A complainant stated he found an open door on a property he believes is unoccupied. Deputies checked the residence and determined the open door to be an oversight. No damage was reported.

•Greenway Road, loud music - A complainant stated that loud music was coming from a nearby residence during the late hours of the night. Deputies located the house and advised the occupants.

Monday, Oct. 28

•Baseline Road, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime during the prior day, someone stole items from his unlocked vehicle.

Tuesday, Oct. 29

•Bedell Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that, sometime during the last few hours, someone entered her unlocked apartment and stole various medications. During the course of investigation, the complainant stated she no longer wished to file a report.

•Whitehaven Road, animal complaint - A complainant stated that while she was walking her dog she was almost attacked by another dog in the neighborhood. The dog control officer was notified.

•Grand Island Boulevard, deer struck - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a deer. No injuries were reported.

Wednesday, Oct. 30

•East River Road, suspicious vehicle - A complainant stated a dark-colored vehicle was parked across the street from his residence and looked suspicious. Deputies located the vehicle and advised the driver, who stated he was taking pictures of scenery in the area.

•Stony Point Road, burglary - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent days, an unknown person entered a nearby vacant property and stole copper from the home. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Whitehaven Road, warrant arrest - Deputies arrested a 25-year-old man from Grand Island after the subject turned himself in on a warrant issued in the City of Buffalo. The subject was transferred to the custody of the Buffalo Police Department.

•Baseline Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident involving a telephone pole. No injuries were reported.

Thursday, Oct. 31

•Baseline Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

Friday, Nov. 1

•Love Road, road obstruction - Deputies responded to a report of a tree lying across the roadway. The Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition was notified.

•East River Road, wires down - A complainant stated she saw a blue flash of light and believed that a transformer had blown. Deputies checked but were unable to locate any problems with the power lines in the area.

•Baseline Road, wires down - A complainant stated that a telephone pole was damaged and was afraid the pole would fall. National Grid was notified.

•Grand Island Boulevard, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a three-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Ransom Road, animal loose - A complainant stated that a dog was running loose through the neighborhood. The dog control officer was notified.

•East River Road, animal complaint - A complainant stated that a vehicle struck a dog in the area and then fled the scene. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle by the description given. The dog control officer was notified.

•Grand Island Boulevard, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Fix Road, wires down - A complainant stated that a wire was hanging low from a telephone pole. Time Warner Cable was notified.

•Harvey Road, pistol permit investigation - Deputies conducted a background check for a subject who applied for a pistol permit.

•East River Road, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone stole various items from her unlocked vehicle.
