Town of Niagara Police Blotter for May 10, 2012

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between April 17 and 21.

Tuesday, April 17

•4800 block of Tuscarora Road, drug complaint. Patrol interviewed a woman who said she found a clear plastic bag of white powder substance in a pair of her estranged husband's sneakers at her home and a syringe under the seat of her car.

•2500 block of Military Road, larceny. Store employee reported a male took a red and silver mountain bike, valued at $129.99, from a rack inside the store and walked out with it.

Wednesday, April 18

•100 block of Sabre Drive, burglary. Complainant reported someone broke the lock on his shed and ransacked it.

•Military Road, Porter Road traffic tickets. Patrol issued multiple traffic tickets in 12 incidents including speeding, expired registration, going through a red light, using a cell phone, cracked windshield, not wearing a seat belt, not signaling a turn, unrestrained children in back seat and no proof of insurance.

Thursday, April 19

•Fashion Outlet Boulevard, driving while intoxicated. Patrol arrested a 47-year-old Juanita Drive woman for driving while intoxicated after stopping her for driving in and out of lane. Driver stated she did not have a license and the vehicle was not registered to her. Patrol also found a substance in an ashtray that appeared to be crack cocaine.

•2900 block of Hyde Park Boulevard and 2500 block of Military Road, larceny. Complainant reported someone entered her vehicle overnight and took the registration papers for her vehicle and trailer. In the second incident, complainant reported someone entered her vehicle while she was at work and took her driver's license.

•6300 block of Edgewood Drive and 5400 block of Lockport Road. Two people were issued appearance tickets for violations of building code.

Friday, April 20

•2500 block of Military Road, shoplifting. A 25-year-old Lockport woman was arrested for taking $424.10 worth of cosmetic, clothing and pet items and an air freshener. In a second incident, a 23-year-old Niagara Road woman was arrested for taking $241 worth of assorted merchandise.

Saturday, April 21

•4600 block of Theresa Lane, animal complaint. Patrol responded on a complaint of a suspicious person ringing the doorbell and found a neighbor who said he wanted to talk to the homeowner in regard to dogs barking that woke up him and his wife.

•4700 block of Chester Lane, domestic. A 30-year-old man was arrested after patrol arrived to investigate a domestic dispute in which the suspect reportedly struck a woman in the face. Patrol found the man hiding in a closet and also found 20 magazines of ammunition.

•4500 block of Liberty Avenue, vandalism. Caller reported he heard a loud bang and looked outside to see a man with a large butcher knife in his hand run from a residence. Patrol found no one in the house, but observed that windows had been broken and furniture destroyed and a note from a 32-year-old suspect stating he was upset about his wife having a new man in her life. Suspect was located at his father's residence and taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.

•100 block of Blanchard Drive, domestic. Daughter said mother threw her to the ground during an argument. Mother said all three of her children are verbally abusive because they don't like her rules.

•1900 block of Military Road, arrest. A 37-year-old A Street man was arrested after patrol observed him pulling out onto Military Road not wearing a seat belt, making a turn on red with out stopping and spinning his tires. The driver was found to have a revoked license, and suspected cocaine was found in the vehicle.
