Town of Niagara Police Blotter for March 8, 2012

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between Feb. 7 and 20.

Tuesday, Feb. 7

•Porter-Packard Road area, assist. Patrol assisted State Police with a report of a brown SUV traveling the wrong way on the I-190.

•Manny Drive, suspicious person. Complainant reported that a man with a known criminal and drug history was walking back and forth down the street.

Wednesday, Feb. 8

•8500 block of Porter Road, mental health. Man threatening to harm himself taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center by Rural Metro Ambulance.

•6800 block of Elsa Place, suspicious person. Complainant reported man walking around residence. Patrol discovered a meter reader.

Thursday, Feb. 9

•Garlow Road and Route 31, assist. Patrol assisted Lewiston Police with a traffic stop. Occupants of vehicle were belligerent, yelling obscenities and making threatening remarks.

•Effie Drive, Porter Road, Packard Road, Witmer Road, Military Road, traffic tickets. Patrols issued 12 traffic tickets for a variety of offenses, including suspended license, expired inspection, speeding, no seatbelt, using a cell phone, headlight out, and going through a red light.

Friday, Feb. 10

•2500 block of Military Road, shoplifting. A 48-year-old 15th Street man was arrested for concealing a leather belt and switching the price tag on a pair of pants, and a 22-year-old Lewiston woman was arrested for taking merchandise valued at $28.46 in two separate shoplifting incidents at a business.

•1800 block of Military Road, shoplifting. A 40-year-old West Avenue man was arrested for taking three pairs of jeans valued at $559.97 and running from an off duty officer working as security for a business.

•7200 block of Porter Road, animal bite. Man involved in a physical domestic fled the scene, leaving behind his dog. The dog bit the hand of the woman involved. Rural Metro Ambulance was called to evaluate the victim. The SPCA was called to secure the dog.

Saturday, Feb. 11

•1700 block of Military Road, larceny. A 32-year old Toronto woman was arrested for shoplifting a pair of sunglasses valued at $130 and for struggling with patrol when asked to produce them.

•Military Road, attempt to locate. Caller reported a male in a Buick driving all over the roadway. Patrol located an elderly male who said he was unable to see well because of the ice on his vehicle. Patrol helped clear the snow and ice.

Sunday, Feb. 12

•4700 block of Creekside Parkway, harassment. Complainant said her neighbor has been videotaping and taking pictures of her and her family for the past couple of years. She requested an order of protection.

Monday, Feb. 13

•3400 block of Hyde Park Boulevard, burglary. Manager of a business reported a 52-year-old Lockport Street man has stolen more than $12,000 worth of copper and other metal building supplies over the past three months.

•Young Street at Porter Road, ATV problem. Officers checked on a dirt bike complaint. Suspects gone on arrival.

Tuesday, Feb. 14

•C Street, Cayuga Village, vandalism. A 30-year-old Porter Road woman was arrested after a complainant said she punched out a window of his residence with her fist. Woman was kicking and spitting at patrol and paramedics on the scene.

Wednesday, Feb. 15

•7700 block of Second Avenue, burglary. Property manager reported someone entered a foreclosed residence and removed copper pipe.

•100 block of Spina Drive, vandalism. Complainant reported a woman drove across his lawn in retaliation for not spending Valentine's Day with her.

•Miller Road, Lockport Road, Packard Road, Porter Road, Tuscarora Road, Military Road, traffic tickets. Patrols issued traffic tickets for various offenses in 19 different incidents.

Thursday, Feb. 16

•4200 block of Military Road, vandalism. Complainant reported that while she was in a grocery store, someone slashed a tire on her vehicle.

•4900 block of Tuscarora Road, civil matter. Complainant stated her ex-boyfriend will not give back her dog.

Friday, Feb. 17

•1500 block of Military Road, shoplifting. Complainant reported a man left the store with a shopping cart filled with about $315 worth of groceries without paying, then fled leaving the cart behind when confronted.

•8500 block of Porter Road, larceny. Complainant said she put her clothing in a dryer at her apartment building and when she returned about an hour later, the clothing was gone.

Saturday, Feb. 18

•3100 block of Woodland Avenue, noise complaint. People reported fighting in driveway.

•1800 block of Tuscarora Road, vandalism. Complainant reported someone smashed the back window of his vehicle

Sunday, Feb. 19

•South Whitham Drive, check situation. Caller reported seeing several wolves walking around the area.

•4500 block of Military Road, vandalism. Complainant stated someone broke her kitchen window and she believes it might have been done by her ex-boyfriend.

Monday, Feb. 20

•B Street, Cayuga Village, reckless driving. Complainant reported a resident was recklessly driving his dirt bike through the neighborhood. A 21-year-old male was found and agreed to repair any damage done to property.
