Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Aug. 18, 2011

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police Department between July 27 and Aug. 4.

Wednesday, July 27

•Hyde Park Boulevard, domestic. Patrol responded on a call to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office dispatch from a woman who said she was being held against her will and beaten by her boyfriend after an argument that started as they were leaving a Lewiston Artpark concert. NCSO was tracking the victim's phone. The victim then called to say her boyfriend forced her out of his recreational vehicle and abandoned her on Hyde Park Boulevard. The boyfriend was located and arrested for driving while intoxicated and assault third degree.

•3000 block of Lockport Road, harassment. A resident reported receiving unwanted, threatening phone calls from an unknown male requesting she send him a check for $250 so he could release a cash prize to her.

•Kline Road, check situation. Patrol was requested to check the woods and fields near Kline Road for subjects discharging firearms. Patrol located five people in the field across from Lewiston No. 2 Volunteer Fire Co. Subjects were target shooting, well away from any residence.

•2900 block of Birch Avenue, burglary. Complainant reported someone had entered her bedroom window and stole her flat screen television.

Thursday, July 28

•Hermitage Road, suspicious person. Patrol found a male sleeping in his vehicle because it was too hot in his residence.

•600 block of B Street, Cayuga Village, larceny. Complainant reported that sometime overnight someone stole his medical deluxe portable hot tub, valued at $1,499, from his patio.

•3200 block of Military Road, larceny. Victim reported a man and a woman stopped at his business to ask for directions and when they left he noticed the cash drawer was open and about $100 missing. Suspects were found and arrested. The 16-year-old Pierce Avenue woman said her younger brother took the money and gave it to her. She was charged with possession of stolen property and conspiracy sixth degree. Her 13-year-old brother was given an appearance ticket and released to his father.

•Juanita Drive, DWI. Patrol arrested a 54-year-old Juanita Drive resident for DWI after stopping him for not wearing a seatbelt and failure to signal a left turn. The vehicle was not inspected, uninsured and had improper, switched plates. The driver's license had been revoked for numerous offenses, including an intoxication conviction.

Friday, July 29

•2800 block of Military Road, missing person. Complainant said her 16-year-old daughter had snuck out of the house, leaving the door to her room locked from the inside and pillows in the bed to make it appear she was under the covers.

•4700 block of Hermitage Road, fraud. Complainant said someone hacked into her email and told all of her friends that she was in Spain. She was advised to change her passwords.

•6300 South Whitham Drive, animal complaint. Homeowner reported an injured crow in his back yard. Patrol provided the number of a wildlife rehabilitator.

Saturday, July 30

•1900 block of Military Road, drug charge. After investigating a suspicious vehicle, patrol arrested a 44-year-old Lewiston man for unlawful possession of marijuana. Patrol noticed a silver pipe on the passenger seat and when asked what it was, the defendant said it was a "bowl for marijuana."

•Tuscarora and Blank roads, DWI. A 20-year-old Packard Road man was arrested for DWI after patrol observed his vehicle repeatedly going out of lane.

•Military Road, DWI. A 26-year-old St. Joseph Road man was arrested for DWI after a traffic stop for not wearing a seatbelt.

•Norman Street, suspicious person. Complainant reported a black male going door-to-door begging for money.

Monday, Aug. 1

•4700 block of Chester Avenue, vandalism. Complainant said someone entered her garage through an open window and took two BB guns and smashed them to pieces.

•7100 block of Lockport Road, accident. Driver complained that stones from a dump truck filled with gravel fell off the truck and chipped the paint on his vehicle.

•1900 block of Military Road, larceny. Woman reported that while waiting in line to check out at a business, she was bumped from behind by another woman, whom she believes stole $550 from her purse.

Tuesday, Aug. 2

•4200 block of Military Road, shoplifting. A white male in his 50s reportedly concealed $153.88 in seafood in a backpack and left the store without paying for the items. When confronted by store security in the parking lot, the man dropped the merchandise and fled the scene on a bicycle.

•6400 block of Woodside Place, local law violation. Defendant was issued appearance tickets for three counts of building code violations.

Wednesday, Aug. 3

•Jane Drive, suspicious person. Complainant reported four males walking in the area. Subjects said they were walking to the store for a snack.

•7800 block of Colonial Drive, suspicious person. Vehicle was parked roadside with a male apparently asleep. Patrol spoke with occupant who said he works for a contracting company and was awaiting the arrival of his boss and the rest of the crew to begin roof work on a nearby home.

•2800 block of Military Road, larceny. Woman reported her daughter stole her debt card and made withdrawals totaling $131. The 16-year-old daughter was arraigned and bail set at $1,000.

•3200 block of Military Road, building code violation. Two business owners were each issued five appearance tickets for five building code violations.

Thursday, Aug. 4

•2000 block of River Road, Lynch Trailer Park, aid assist. Patrol assisted the NCSO and Niagara Falls Police Department in taking a violent suspect into custody.

•Military Road, found property. The loss prevention officer at a business brought patrol a found wallet with cash, credit cards and a military ID. Patrol was able to locate a phone number for the owner in Pennsylvania and left a message.

•900 block of Sycamore Drive, Cayuga Village. Mother reported an out-of-control 11-year-old daughter.
