Town of Niagara Police Blotter for July 28, 2011

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between July 7 and 13.

Thursday, July 7

•1900 block of Military Road, roof alarm. An intruder was reported on the roof at the mall. Footprints were found on the roof and cinder blocks thrown into the parking lot.

•Tuscarora Road and Route 31, assist state police. Patrol assisted State Police with a felony traffic stop. Three suspects were taken into custody.

•Expressway Village, fire. Complaint received about a large open burn. Fire was found to be properly contained in a garbage can.

Friday, July 8

•200 block of Beckwith Avenue, vandalism. Complainant said someone threw a rock into her daughter's bedroom window. She said she had a verbal argument with two males the previous week about a pedophile being in the area. A long white car was seen fleeing the area.

•South Whitham Drive, vandalism. Complainant said sometime overnight someone threw items into her yard, including a mattress, a for sale sign and broken lawn ornaments. Similar reports were taken throughout the neighborhood.

•Manny Drive, Sabre Park, mental health call. Woman reported knocking on doors and asking people for crack cocaine. She was issued an appearance ticket and taken to the hospital for evaluation by Rural Metro Ambulance.

Saturday, July 9

•2000 block of Military Road, EMS call. Patrol responded to a business for a 22-year-old woman who had fallen and struck her head, causing a laceration.

•Niagara Falls Boulevard, reckless driver. Patrol observed vehicle at 97th Street swerve into the center lane. Driver stated he was very tired.

Sunday, July 10

•800 block of Sunnyside Drive, found property. Patrol was met by a paper delivery person who found a binder with personal papers on his route. Patrol returned the binder to a West Creek Drive resident who said somebody must have taken it from her unlocked vehicle overnight.

•8100 block of Ashwood Lane, animal problem. Barking dog complaint; owner was bringing a dog inside on patrol's arrival.

•7400 block of Porter Road, missing person. Patrol responded on an unwanted person complaint and found a 15-year-old North Tonawanda youth who had been reported missing. Also found was suspected marijuana. A 24-year-old intoxicated man at the trailer was arrested for unlawfully dealing with a minor, first degree, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Suspect made several unsuccessful attempts to break the patrol car's windows by smashing his head against them.

Monday, July 11

•6400 block of Grauer Road, road blocked. Neighbor reported a road blocked by construction equipment.

•Juanita Drive, mental health. Patrol responded on a report of a male who had slit his wrists. Occupant fought with patrol and was verbally abusive. He was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for a mental health evaluation. Patrol secured 10 knives of various sizes, a rifle and a pistol. Neighbors said the man had threatened in the past to shoot at their residences.

Tuesday, July 12

•2900 block of Lockport Road, animal complaint. Loose dog found. Patrol was familiar with the dog and returned it to its owner.

•1400 block of Elderberry Place, burglary. Victim said her residence had been entered within the last five days and a television, a video game unit and a television projection unit valued at more than $3,000 were taken.

•Second Avenue, littering. Complainant reported a man dumping debris in the field at the end of the street. Patrol spoke with man who was dumping chunks of concrete. He agreed to remove them.

Wednesday, July 13

•8500 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard, aid assist. Patrol assisted Niagara Falls Police with a reported problem at a business. Issue was of road rage, which escalated to a fight.

•Military Road, vehicle complaint. Patrol was advised of five males in a green Taurus who were egging cars in the area of Grauer and Hermitage roads. Patrol stopped a car of that description carrying five males, after observing the front seat passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. Occupants denied involvement in the incident.
