Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Dec. 23

The following is a sampling of the calls the Town of Niagara Police responded to between Dec. 3 and 16.

Friday, Dec. 3

•2300 block of Military Road, water break. A water main break occurred on the town right of way at a business. The town water department responded and handled the problem.

•2200 block of Military Road, lost or stolen vehicle. Several license plates were stolen. No suspects or witnesses are known. The vehicles were parked outside of a business, showing no damage.

•7700 block of Lockport Road, assist citizen. An infant swallowed a broken piece of glass. The child was transported to Women and Children's Hospital by Rural Metro.

•2100 block of Amy Drive, aid assist. Niagara County Sheriff's Office was assisted in stopping a fight on a school bus.

Saturday Dec. 4

•8200 block of Colonial Drive, property damage. A Niagara Falls male stated that an unknown vehicle struck a stop sign located at Colonial Drive and Garlow Road, then drove into the witness' yard and left the area. There was no visible damage done to the yard.

•2000 block of Military Road, larceny. Patrols responded to a business for a report of two shoplifters in custody. The suspects were juveniles and were charged with petit larceny. The suspects were accused of stealing a pair of Timberland boots and a pair of Nike sneakers. Both suspects are due in Niagara County Probation to answer charges.

•1900 block of Military Road, larceny. Patrol responded to a mall lot for a report of a larceny from a vehicle. The victim states that while he and his family were shopping in the mall, an unknown person entered his vehicle and took his briefcase. The victim also states that his daughters' Blackberry Curve cell phone was taken as well. The briefcase was said to contain numerous business documents along with a checkbook and deposit book.

Sunday, Dec. 5

•Hyde Park Boulevard/Maple Avenue, disabled vehicle. Patrol observed a vehicle on the side of the road and asked the operator what was wrong, at which he stated he ran out of gas. Patrol sat behind the vehicle until help arrived. The vehicle was cleared off the roadway without incident.

•2500 block of Military Road, larceny. Patrol responded to a business for two shoplifters in custody. A security officer states that he saw the suspects conceal numerous items valued at $85.70 without paying for them. The suspects were taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for further processing. Both suspects were issued an appearance ticket to answer the charge.

•3700 block of Lockport Road, larceny. Patrol responded to a business for a stolen license plate report. An unknown person stole a license plate off of a tow truck that was parked in the lot. There are no known suspects or witnesses.

Monday, Dec. 6

•Witmer Road/Niagara Falls Boulevard, disabled vehicle. An occupied vehicle was found in a ditch waiting for a tow.

•Haseley Drive, abandoned vehicle. An unoccupied vehicle was found in the roadway. George Towing removed the vehicle.

•Packard Road, disabled vehicle. An injury accident was reported where a vehicle was found in a ditch. Its female owner occupied the vehicle. Military Towing removed the vehicle.

Tuesday, Dec. 7

•20 block of Expressway Village, identity theft. An officer responded to a residence for identity theft. The victim stated that several times over the last several months, someone has made withdrawals from the victim's checking account, without the victim's permission. It is no known how the unknown suspect obtained the victim's information.

•8200 block of Colonial Drive, harassment. A complainant stated that his next-door neighbor did approach him as he was walking by the suspect's residence. The suspect told the victim that the next time that someone shot an arrow at his dog, there would be repercussions. The victim said he never shot an arrow at the suspect's dog. All parties involved were advised not to have any further contact with each other, to avoid possible conflict.

•8200 block of Colonial Drive, animal complaint. A complainant stated that someone shot his dog in the rear upper back area with an arrow, causing injury. The complainant observed a young male looking suspicious, running with a compound bow. An officer interviewed the juvenile who stated he was at school during this time. The complainant stated that he wishes to pursue criminal charges against the suspect.

Wednesday, Dec. 8

•1900 block of Military Road, drug/alcohol. A 19-year-old Sanborn male was charged with a drug offense involving his possession of marijuana.

•2400 block of Military Road, reckless driving. Patrol responded to a report of two cars recklessly driving in a parking lot, doing donuts and obstructing traffic. The officer observed a silver Mustang doing donuts in an area where numerous vehicles were parked and driving erratically at a busy time of day. The Mustang tried avoiding patrol by ducking between cars and proceeding northbound on Military Road. Patrol followed the vehicle and stopped it at Military near Laur Road. The driver admitted to driving erratically and stated he did not know who the other driver was. Patrol issued a ticket for reckless driving and the subject received a set court date.

•Hyde Park Boulevard, traffic ticket. Patrol was stationary facing southbound on Hyde Park Boulevard at Lockport Road with emergency lights activated, allowing a Rural Metro ambulance proceed through the intersection on Lockport, heading west. While the ambulance was halfway through the intersection, a vehicle was observed driving south on Hyde Park through the intersection, failing to yield to the patrol car as well as the ambulance, nearly causing an accident. The operator of the vehicle was issued a ticket.

Thursday, Dec. 9

•2500 block of Military Road, property damage. Patrol responded to a business' parking lot for a hit and run accident. The driver of vehicle No. 2 stated she was northbound on Military, pulling into the parking lot and the driver of vehicle No. 1 struck her rear bumper causing minor damage to her rear driver side corner. Driver No. 2 states the other driver started yelling at her and left the scene, however she was able to get the license plate. Patrol caught up with the vehicle issuing the driver two tickets.

•Military Road, DMV suspension. Patrol stopped a vehicle for a 33-year-old male talking on his cell phone while driving. The driver's license of the male was suspended, and he was issued two UTTs and released.

•8500 block of Porter Road, animal noise. Patrol responded to a residence where a barking dog complaint was reported. Patrol interviewed a woman who reported an on-going issue with the dog that continuously barks. Patrol has responded to this complaint on other occasions. The owner of the dog was issued an appearance ticket.

Friday, Dec. 10

•9900 block of Porter Road, suspicious persons. Report of a suspicious white male taking pictures of the airport or air base was reported. Patrol was unable to locate the male.

•2400 block of Military Road, larceny. Patrol responded to a business on report of a larceny complaint. Patrol spoke with the victim who stated that unknown person stole $210 cash from his unlocked locker. There were no reported suspects or witnesses.

•1600 block of Military Road, removal. Patrol responded to a business for a report of two parties that refused to pay for nail treatments. Patrol spoke with one of the parties and advised that if payment was refuse, the business could take her to court. All parties were satisfied with the amount paid prior to the two parties leaving.

Saturday Dec. 11

•490 block of Debbie Drive, robbery. The victim states that he made an appointment to meet a male that he knows to purchase an Xbox game from. Upon arriving, an unknown female walked him over to Park Road and then immediately walked away in an unknown direction. The male then approached the victim from the left and asked him if he had the money. The victim showed him the money, and the male pulled what appeared to be a shotgun from his right pant leg and pointed it at the victim and demanded $200. The victim handed over the money and backed away. The male walked off down the street. The victim then called the police. Area was checked with negative results.

•Packard Road, reckless driving. Patrols were dispatched to an area of Packard and Military roads for a reckless driving complaint. The complainant stated the vehicle was all over the road. Patrol caught up to the vehicle as it was turning into a business. Upon interview of the driver, it was found that she was elderly and lost. Patrol assisted the driver and cleared without incident.

•Lockport Road, animal complaint. Report of a deer struck by a vehicle. Patrol found the deer deceased with no vehicle around.

•5200 block of Tuscarora Road, assist fire department. Patrol responded to a location for a report of carbon monoxide in a residence. Niagara Active Hose responded. No symptoms at the time of the call were stated, however the fire department did find amounts of CO2 in the air.

Sunday, Dec. 12

•5000 block of Sweet Home Road, assist Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls Police reported a tenant in an apartment of a residence had located an unknown type of handgun in her residence. The tenant stated that she received a call from a downstairs tenant advising her where the weapon could be found. NFPD indicated that the weapon was possibly used in the commission of a robbery on the previous night. NFPD detectives responded to interview all persons.

•60 block of Anthony Drive, larceny. Upon arrival, patrol encountered the victim who stated that an unknown person stole 11 rings and 75 prescription pain pills from her residence. She stated that she had a party at her residence in which numerous persons attended. The victim believes that she left her rings on her counter and her pain medication on a dresser in her bedroom. The victim stated that she did not see anyone steal the items, but she has caught certain people stealing from her in the past.

•30 block of Licata Drive, fire. Sizzling noises were reportedly coming from a fuse box, but no flames were visible. Niagara Active Hose was on the scene. There were no injuries. Patrol suspected that water was leaking into the fuse box.
