Election 2015: Broderick, Cliffe, Dyster, Pappas, Poloncarz win

It was a good night for the incumbents across NFP's coverage area, as Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster, Town of Wheatfield Supervisor Bob Cliffe, North Tonawanda Mayor Art Pappas and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz each handily won.

Election Day results included:

•Dyster (4,267 votes) topped John Accardo (3,468). Cliffe (1,727) trumped Gerald McCormick (883) and Thomas Larson (304). Pappas (3,031), who was appointed to office to replace state Sen. Rob Ortt, outlasted John Tylec (2,057). Poloncarz (91,304) nearly doubled Raymond Walter (47,004).

Also re-elected was Town of Niagara Supervisor Lee Wallace, who ran unopposed.

•The closest races came on Grand Island, where Supervisor Mary Cooke (2,672) trails Nathan McMurray (2,674) by just two votes; and in Lewiston, where three positions are still up for grabs, pending absentee ballots (two council seats and highway superintendent). One official race result saw Steve Broderick (1,824) defeat Mark Briglio (1,507) for supervisor.

•Joseph Jastrzemski (16,644) defeated Jamie Moxham (14,226) to win the Niagara County clerk race, while Rebecca Wydysh (1,253) defeated Mike Johnson (1,066) in the race to replace Bill Ross as Niagara County Legislature District 2 legislator.

•Anne McCaffrey (2,384) was re-elected mayor in the City of Lockport, defeating Roger Sherrie (1,785). Doyle Phillips (840) beat Janet Hoffman (561) to claim the supervisor race in Wilson.

All results are unofficial. Absentee ballots are expected to be counted in the next two weeks.
