Press release
Today, emotionally driven pop-rock artist Cami Clune releases her debut seven-track album, “should be sleeping.” Showcasing her signature genre-blending sound that fuses pop, rock and country with theatrical storytelling, the project is Clune’s most personal work to date.
“ ‘should be sleeping’ is a collection of songs written primarily during the summer of 2023, as I was navigating the end of my first long-term relationship and falling for someone who ultimately wasn’t who I thought they were,” Clune shared. “More than anything, it’s a snapshot of a season that shaped me into who I am today.”

Alongside the album release, Clune spotlights the project’s focus track, “Let’s Run Away,” which serves as a counterpoint to the album’s exploration of heartbreak, instead leaning into themes of love and limerence.
“ ‘Let’s Run Away’ captures that intoxicating feeling of wanting to escape into a relationship and romanticizing someone so intensely that they almost become a fantasy in your mind,” Clune said. “It feels very dreamy and emotionally vulnerable to me, and I think it shows a softer side of the project that balances out some of the heavier emotions on the album.”
Following her viral NHL playoff anthem performance at a Buffalo Sabres game, Clune captured international attention, with major outlets including Reuters, The New York Times, The Guardian, NPR and USA Today covering the special moment. She was first introduced to audiences nationwide as a finalist on NBC’s “The Voice” (season 19), where she earned a rare four-chair turn and coach block. Now, she builds on that momentum with her debut album, showcasing the genre-blending storytelling and signature sound that continue to set her apart.

With “should be sleeping,” Clune delivers her most cohesive and vulnerable project to date. Across its tracks, she explores heartbreak, hope, limerence, nostalgia, and the restless late-night thoughts that accompany life’s transitions, pairing deeply personal lyricism with infectious hooks and dynamic production that feels both intimate and cinematic.
Produced and mixed by Keegan Ferrell and mastered by Fred Miller, the album was created alongside a close-knit group of collaborators – including Nicholas Chiari (Grabbitz), Grant Michaels, Kyle May, Katlin Owen, Tucker Richmond, Hamilton Belk and Matt Kelly (City and Colour) – whose contributions help shape Clune’s rich sonic landscape.
Recently released singles such as “Your Favorite Song” and “Screwloose” offered listeners an early glimpse into the album’s emotional depth and sonic palette. “Your Favorite Song” unpacks the complicated feeling of watching someone move on while still holding onto lingering emotions, complete with subtle nods to The 1975; while “Screwloose” explores the guilt and confusion of finding peace after a breakup while watching the other person fall apart, leaving you to question whether you’re the one with a screw loose.
