The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team signed forward Vaclav Karabacek to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Karabacek (age 20, 6'0", 199 pounds) tallied 30 points (18 goals, 12 assists) and 56 penalty minutes in 47 regular-season games with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL this season. He also added nine points (6/3) and 14 penalty minutes in 17 playoff games for the Wildcats.
Originally drafted by the Sabres in the second round (49th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Karabacek recorded 117 points (56/61) in 171 career QMJHL games. A native of Brandys nad Labem, Czech Republic, Karabacek also chipped in 32 points (16/16) in 38 career playoff games.
