IRS tax workshop offered to nonprofit organizations

A one-day IRS tax workshop designed to help small and medium-size nonprofit organizations gain a better understanding of tax-exempt responsibilities, employment issues and related areas will be hosted next month by the Hilbert College Center for Adult and Graduate Studies.

The workshop, which is one of only two being offered in the northeast this year, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, in Michael's Banquet Facility at 4885 Southwestern Blvd., Hamburg. CLE, CPE and CE credits will be available for participating professionals.

Experienced IRS tax exempt organization specialists will address the benefits and requirements to maintain tax-exempt status, unrelated business income, including gaming activities, employment matters, an overview of the redesigned Form 990, and required disclosures.

Featured luncheon speaker will be Joseph Roccisano, director of agency relations at United Way of Buffalo and Erie County.

The workshop is recommended for executives and staff of small and medium-size nonprofit organizations; employees or board members of grant-making organizations who work with small or mid-sized tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations; nonprofit board members and volunteers responsible for any nonprofit financial and accountability issues; new or emerging nonprofit financial management staff or volunteers; CPAs and accounting professionals; attorneys who work with small and medium-size tax exempt nonprofit organizations; enrolled agents; and registered tax return preparers.
