On Wednesday, the Great Race of 92 classic automobiles, dating from 1907 to 1969, will stop on the Great Lakes Seaway Trail National Scenic Byway at The Antique Boat Museum in Clayton. Great Lakes Seaway Trail representatives will present the first car into Clayton with a packet of tourism resources for traveling the byway.

The 4.5-acre Antique Boat Museum campus along the St. Lawrence River is providing a one-hour oasis for the classic cars, their drivers and navigators. The museum is located along the 518-mile Great Lakes Seaway Trail byway that parallels the St. Lawrence Seaway, Lake Ontario, Niagara River and Lake Erie shoreline in New York and Pennsylvania.

The Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty is a controlled-speed endurance race, which pays homage to the original "Great Race" New York-to-Paris race in 1908.

The rolling event will visit another Great Lakes Seaway Trail community when it stops in Buffalo on Thursday, June 28. The cars will visit the Buffalo Transportation-Pierce Arrow Museum, where a 1908 Buffalo-built Thomas Flyer, the same model of car that won the 1908 Great Race, is on display.

The not-for-profit tourism organization Seaway Trail Inc., based in Sackets Harbor, has federal grant funding to develop incentives to bring classic auto enthusiasts to the byway.
