Lewiston's Relay For Life shoots for cancer cure

Team Hope of Lewiston's Relay For Life held a basket auction and a skeet-shooting fundraiser on Saturday, May 19, at the 3F Club in Lewiston. The money raised from the events will benefit the American Cancer Society.

The auction had a wide variety of baskets, including a golf club, dance lessons, an assortment of food, and even an over 21 table of alcoholic beverages and accessories. There was also a "Spin the Wheel" table where participants won a prize every time, a 50/50 split, and a concession stand.

"Shoot for the Cure" was also happening alongside the basket auction. Five designated shooters shot at 100 targets. The amount donated depended on the number of targets made. For example, if a person decided to donate 10 cents per target and the shooter shot all 100 targets, then $10 would be donated.

The five shooters shot extremely well. Rich Falcone shot the most with a total of 97 targets out of 100. Jerry Perri shot 96 targets. Gerry Gipp made 94. Steve Zappy shot 93 and Tim Baldwin shot a total of 92 targets.

The events were expected to make more than $2,000 for Team Hope and the American Cancer Society.

This year's Lewiston Relay For Life is Saturday, June 16, at the Lewiston-Porter High School track on Creek Road.
