Looking for travel tips for the 518-mile Great Lakes Seaway Trail National Scenic Byway along the freshwater shoreline of New York and Pennsylvania?

The 64-page, full-color Great Lakes Seaway Trail Travel Magazine, featuring travel tips and ideas for exploring the scenic byway that includes the Erie Bayfront, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Rochester, Oswego, the 1,000 Islands, Ogdensburg, and hosts of waterfront communities, is now online at www.seawaytrail.com/travelmagazine/digital/.

The 2012 Great Lakes Seaway Trail Travel Magazine highlights the entire byway region's War of 1812 history; unique architectural sites; agricultural bounty; and some of the world's best sports for freshwater fishing and boating.

For those who enjoying exploring outdoors, more than 100 Great Lakes Seaway Trail "Outdoor Storyteller" signs are listed throughout the magazine with GPS coordinates. Outdoor enthusiasts can use GPS units to find the 75 hidden caches of the Great Lakes Seaway Trail GeoTrail.

The magazine announces the new, self-guided, American Volkssport Association-approved Great Lakes Seaway Trail War of 1812 Walking Series of self-guided tours in nine communities (Ogdensburg, Sackets Harbor, Oswego, Pultneyville, Youngstown, Lewiston, Williamsville, and Buffalo; and Erie, Pa.).

The calendar includes festivals, events and activities from angling to apple picking, jazz to jousting, and cultural and culinary delights. American and Canadian quilters are invited to create "Beauty of the Byways" quilts for the March 16-17, 2013, Great Lakes Seaway Trail Quilt Show in Sackets Harbor, at the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Discovery Center.

The magazine's back cover invites readers to complete a short survey to be eligible to win a $1,200 Great Lakes Seaway Trail vacation package.

Buffalo-Niagara region attractions in the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Travel Magazine include: the Maid of the Mist; Buffalo Harbor Harbor Cruises; Old Fort Niagara; the Buffalo-Erie County Naval and Military Park; the new Great Lakes Seaway Trail War of 1812 Walks in Youngstown, Lewiston and Buffalo; the Niagara Wine Trail; Frank Lloyd Wright and Frederick Law Olmstead masterworks that are open to the public; the Kenan Center's 100 American Craftsmen show in Lockport in June; the National Buffalo Wing Festival in Buffalo in September; world-class fishing and boating opportunities; and the scenic driving, natural beauty and waterfront parks found along the Lake Ontario, Niagara River and Lake Erie shorelines.

The magazine is available in print at hotels, restaurants, attractions and information centers in New York, Pennsylvania and Ontario (Canada), and at AAA and other travel offices in New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The Fort Drum Relocation Readiness Program includes the magazine in its packets for newly-arriving soldiers.

The magazine is also available at the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Discovery Center in Sackets Harbor, and the Seaway Trail satellite office in Webster. A print copy can be requested at http://www.seawaytrail.com/travelmagazine or by calling 315-646-1000, ext. 200, or emailing[email protected].
