Lewiston's Black Pearl begins her third great season at noon on Saturday, May 26. The Memorial Day weekend will be busy, so it's time to call in reservations. Cruises will be available on Tuesday and Friday evenings, and all weekend. You can check out the schedule online at http://historiclewiston.org/blackpearl/index.html.

Despite the occasional pirate you might run into on the Lower Niagara River, the Black Pearl offers a smooth and relaxing ride. You'll be transported back in history and you'll see firsthand where the fugitive slaves crossed and where the first battle of the War of 1812 was fought.

This is a fundraising project for the Historical Association, which receives a portion of the ticket proceeds. For reservations, call 1-877-754-1812.

If you would like to be a volunteer guide this summer on the Black
Pearl, email [email protected] with your name and phone number. It's a great summer hobby and you'll make many new friends along the way.

HAL hosts a volunteer training cruise during the week of May 20.
