Jackie Mordaunt, who has held the position of executive director of the WNY Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure since 2004, has announced her departure from the organization to focus and further pursue her interests in community health in Western New York.

"During Jackie's tenure, Komen WNY has increased its fundraising from $300,000 to nearly $1 million annually," said Colleen Nossavage, president of the affiliate board of directors. "Educating women across WNY of the importance of breast health screening and breast health education over this time has made a great impact on the WNY community. Jackie has served Komen with great passion and we wish her well with her new endeavors."

"Komen grantees, educational and outreach programs have been developed to make a greater community impact. I am stepping down at a time when I am confident the affiliate is poised to be most effective in its mission to save lives," Mordaunt said.

Established in 2001, the Western New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure has been serving the communities of Western New York by providing funding for local, life-saving programs. Komen WNY serves the eight counties of Western New York (Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua).

During the past 11 years, the Komen WNY Affiliate has raised more than $3.9 million. In 2011, Komen WNY invested more than $500,000 in life-saving services through its small and community grants programs.

During Mordaunt's eight years as executive director, the WNY Komen Affiliate developed a strong volunteer and advocacy base to help increase breast cancer screening rates for vulnerable women. Additionally, Mordaunt's collaborations allowed the WNY Komen Affiliate to become a participant in many local and state coalitions addressing equity and public policy.
