Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for Feb. 24, 2012

The Erie County Sheriff's Office reports its officers responded to 133 calls from Feb. 11 to 17. Below is a sampling of only those incidents the ECSO reported to the Island Dispatch.

Saturday, Feb. 11

•Town Hall Terrace, marijuana arrest - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 33-year-old man from Grand Island for unlawful possession of marijuana. The man was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

•Baseline Road, warrant arrest - Deputies arrested a 21-year-old man from Grand Island on a bench warrant out of Grand Island Town Court. The man was transported to the Erie County Holding Center.

•East Park Road, warrant arrest - Deputies, with the assistance of New York State Police, State Parks Police and the U.S. Border Patrol, arrested 30-year-old Pascual Munoz-Ortiz of Grand Island on a bench warrant. In the process of serving the warrant. Munoz-Ortiz tried to flee from deputies by jumping out of a second story window. A foot chase ensued through the neighborhood and Munoz-Ortiz was placed into custody. Munoz-Ortiz was additionally charged with obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, resisting arrest, and criminal contempt in the second degree. Further investigation of the incident led to the arrest of 32-year-old Christine Colucci of Grand Island for obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree after she was alleged to have interfered with deputies' investigation. Munoz-Ortiz was transported to the Erie County Holding Center, while Colucci was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

Tuesday, Feb. 14

•Regency Drive, residential burglary - A complainant stated that sometime during the night an unknown person entered his unsecured garage and stole a bicycle. The bicycle was found later in the week by deputies and returned to the homeowner. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Thursday, Feb. 16

•I-190, traffic arrest - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 38-year-old man from Grand Island after a Department of Motor Vehicles check showed that his vehicle registration and his license were currently suspended in New York state. The man was issued traffic tickets returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

Friday, Feb. 17

•Grand Island Boulevard, marijuana arrest - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 40-year-old man from Williamsville for unlawful possession of marijuana. The man was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.
