Grand Island customers of First Niagara Bank will see their branch move a half-mile up Grand Island Boulevard in the spring.

At the close of business on Friday, May 18, the First Niagara branch at 2435 Grand Island Blvd. in the Grand Island Plaza will close permanently and all accounts will transfer to the new branch at 2300 Grand Island Boulevard, formerly an HSBC Bank branch that First Niagara acquired last year. The sale is still pending approval.

In a letter to customers, Mark Rendulic, executive vice president for retail banking at First Niagara, wrote that all accounts will transfer automatically to the new branch and account holders "won't have to do a thing" to have access to all their accounts.
