Burlington Coat Factory, ABC's "Good Morning America" and One Warm Coat collaborated to collect more than one million coats to keep those in need warm

This month marks the successful close of the fifth annual "Warm Coats & Warm Hearts" coat drive, a partnership between Burlington Coat Factory, a national retail chain offering designer merchandise at everyday low prices, One Warm Coat, a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing coats to those in need, and ABC's Emmy Award-winning morning news program, "Good Morning America." This year's coat drive culminated in the achievement of a remarkable milestone -- the collection of one million coats over its five-year history. This highly anticipated goal was made possible by the donations of Burlington customers across the country who were inspired to take action and donate gently worn coats to help those in need.

The fifth installment of the "Warm Coats & Warm Hearts" drive kicked off on Oct. 28, 2011, and will conclude in all Burlington locations on Feb. 20. To date, more than 215,000 coats have been collected and donated this year to local participating One Warm Coat agencies.

This annual collaboration is part of an ongoing effort to ensure no individual goes without a warm coat during the cold winter months. Each year, the "Warm Coats & Warm Hearts" coat drive relies on the generosity and compassion of Americans across the country to contribute to the cause through coat donations at any Burlington Coat Factory location and in conjunction with GMA's on-air segments and online efforts to further awareness.

"We are thrilled to announce the success of this year's coat drive and take great pride in knowing that this joint effort with our wonderful partners at One Warm Coat and 'GMA' have resulted in a five-year collection of just over one million coats for those who would otherwise go without," remarked Thomas Kingsbury, president and CEO of Burlington Coat Factory. "The 'Warm Coats & Warm Hearts' coat drive is an integral part of our company's dedication to giving back to local communities across the country - and one that is dependent on our loyal customers who support our charitable initiatives year after year. We could not have accomplished this without their generous contributions."

Sherri Wood, One Warm Coat's national founder, offered: "We could not be more excited about the results of this year's drive and reaching the one million coat milestone. Each year we're touched anew by the responsiveness of those who are so willing to give back and provide warmth to someone in need within their community."

" 'Good Morning America' is always glad to be a part of this important effort to help those in need, and we want to extend a heartfelt thanks to our dedicated viewers who participated in helping to achieve this year's goal of collecting the millionth coat," said James Goldston, "GMA" senior executive producer.
