Opportunities for high school students to perform in "Cinderella" this August

Artpark has reinstated its highly successful musical theater apprentice program for a third year. The apprentice program provides an opportunity for up to eight high school music theater students of exceptional talent to participate in the company's Broadway musical production of "Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella." Artpark will present the timeless fairy tale musical in the Mainstage Theater Aug. 9-17.

Up to eight high school students, ages 16 and up, will be chosen for participation in the program. In addition to contributing as a cast member of "Cinderella," the young theater apprentices will have the opportunity to take advantage of master classes conducted by staff and senior cast members and to learn from performing alongside outstanding professional artists from across the U.S. Students participating in the program will receive a $450 stipend for the four week period (July 23 through Aug. 17).

Auditions for the musical theater apprentice program will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 3 to 7 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts. Auditioners should prepare 32 bars of two songs and be prepared to dance/move. An accompanist will be provided at all auditions. Candidates should bring sheet music, application and photo.
