The Grand Island Highway Department has released its winter policies on mailbox replacement, plowing and parking.
The town will replace a mailbox with a standard post and mailbox if it is damaged by a town highway plow, though it will not replace custom-built, ornamental or plastic mailboxes.
The department also reminds residents that plowing driveway snow onto a road is illegal under the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. Also, parking is prohibited on town and county roads from Nov. 1 till April 1, from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m.
The town is not responsible for damage caused by town equipment to a vehicle that is in the town's right of way.
