L.A. Reid to mentor the boys; Simon Cowell the girls; Nicole Scherzinger the over 30s; and Paula Abdul to mentor groups

The "Boot Camp" round of "The X Factor" came to a dramatic conclusion last night when the Top 32 acts were revealed and the show producers informed the judges of the category they will be mentoring for the season. The competition kicks into high gear next week as L.A. Reid begins mentoring the Boys; Simon Cowell mentors the Girls; Nicole Scherzinger mentors the Over 30s and Paula Abdul mentors the Groups.

Next week, the 32 acts that survived "Boot Camp" are whisked away to their mentor's home, or to a location of the judge's choice, for their final shot at earning a place on the live shows. With everything on the line, the contestants will have to perform well enough to convince their judge, and another surprise celebrity guest mentor, that they deserve one of the coveted spots in each judge's final category.

Tune in to the "Judges' Homes" round and find out who will survive on Wednesday, Oct. 12 (8-9:30 p.m.) and Thursday, Oct. 13 (8-10 p.m.). Then on a special episode airing Tuesday, Oct. 18 (8-9:30 p.m.), the "Judges' Homes" round comes to a dramatic conclusion as the judges and their celebrity guest mentors decide which acts will go home and which will continue. On a special extended two-and-a-half-hour episode airing Tuesday, Oct. 25 (8-10:30 p.m.), the remaining acts will perform live for the first time.
