Jack's Mannequin to release 'People and Things' on Tuesday

Hosting release week film screening and performance; headlining tour kicks off Oct. 6

Jack's Mannequin will release "People and Things" on Tuesday, Oct.4, and will celebrate release week by hosting several unique events.

On Monday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m., Jack's Mannequin will host a film screening at the Angelika Theatre in NYC to present short films for each of the songs on the band's new release. The 11 short films were commissioned to provide an artistic visual counterpart to the album and were each directed by a different independent director. The screening event will be followed by a stripped-down performance by frontman Andrew McMahon.

Tickets for the screening sold out in record time, but the short films also will premiere on YouTube at the same time as the theater event. The film for the track "Television" (which premiered on Entertainment Weekly) is now up on YouTube.

On release day, McMahon will stream a live Q&A and performance from the Livestream studios. The streaming event begins at 7p.m. EST on Tuesday at http://www.livestream.com/jacksmannequin.

On Oct. 6, for the first time ever, Jack's Mannequin will team up with a symphony orchestra. The band will perform with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra to create symphonic arrangements for some of its best-known hits at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. The performance kicks off a full headlining tour.

Jack's Mannequin will also perform at the second annual Dear Jack Foundation Benefit Concert on Nov. 11 at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. The benefit also will feature special acoustic sets by The Academy Is ... and FUN. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Dear Jack Foundation, a volunteer-run charitable organization set up by McMahon to help raise awareness and support organizations and charities that help young adult cancer patients.

"People and Things" marks McMahon's third studio release with Jack's Mannequin, following up 2005's "Everything In Transit" and 2008's "The Glass Passenger." The first single from "People and Things," "My Racing Thoughts," is out now.
