Congratulations, Linda Feldman. Feldman was recently offered the honor of buying Eddie's Art Shoppe, Grand Island's go-to custom picture framing place.
Feldman, who has managed the shop for more than 25 years, explained the company features many unique art frames, perfect for the home, office or any special occasion. From traditional to modern to contemporary, Eddie's offers many choices for picture framing with more than 1,200 samples to choose from.
"Our best is the least we can do," said Feldman. "This company is all about quality service and good design. I consider it a level of continuity."
Eddie's was established in 1964 as Eddie's Paint Shoppe on Center Street in Lewiston. In 1974, then owner Eddie Marchitelli added the picture framing line to the shop, which then replaced the paint line.
The art shop offers many beautiful frames, including ready-to-go and custom orders. Whether it is a picture, portrait, mirror, wedding photos, flags, jewelry, sports jerseys, christening gowns, drumsticks, stuffed animals, money, ballet shoes, baseballs or even hockey sticks, Feldman uses her unique professional framing skills to leave every customer satisfied.
"I've had quite the following," said Feldman. "For example, I've had three generations of customers follow me. Chain stores don't have that kind of following - it really gives me an edge."
"I think it's a great service to have here locally on the Island. We hope to help her get her name out once again and let the people in the community know that it's here," said Eric Fiebelkorn, president of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce. "So often we travel off the Island for services, and it's great to know that a craftsperson here, who does great work, is available to us without hitting the bridge."
"We're going to do everything to help her further her business and let people know she's here," said Fiebelkorn.
Feldman is currently in the process of reorganizing the company's warehouse. Next month, Eddie's will feature a sale for inventory clearance, including matte board reductions. Prices are cut - for example, a 5-by-7-inch frame is offered for $7 to $10. Also, estimates are free.
"Good design doesn't have to be expensive, in fact, it is just that (inexpensive)," said Feldman. "I utilize the best materials."
Feldman has created pieces she describes as "absolute privileges." Years ago, Feldman framed the jersey of Gilbert Perreault, one of the stars of the Buffalo Sabres "French Connection." Just this year, she had the opportunity to frame Charles N. DeGlopper's Congressional Medal of Honor, which she called "an incredible opportunity."
"It's the highest military honor a person can receive," Feldman said.
Feldman offers specials each month. The current special running is 20 percent off any custom framing for weddings, anniversaries, engagements and other events and occasions.
Eddie's Art Shoppe is located at 2305 Grand Island Blvd. Business hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
