Only in existence for three years, the Niagara-Wheatfield Kiwanis Club has made an impact in the community through its focus on helping the children of the towns of Niagara and Wheatfield and dedication to the community as a whole.
This year's "Kiwanis's One Day" project saw a team of members stain fences at an Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara community-based residence where people with developmental disabilities live. Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara was selected by the Kiwanis "because of the great possibilities they bring to the residents of the area, and Opportunities Unlimited has venues within the towns of Niagara and Wheatfield," said Daniel Maerten, Niagara-Wheatfield Kiwanis Club vice president. For more than 55 years, Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara has provided innovative programming to people with disabilities and their families across Niagara County.
