With the arrival of warm spring weather, children will be returning to the sidewalks, streets and bike paths on their bicycles.

In an effort to insure the safety of children, the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451, in conjunction with the Niagara County Sheriff's Department and Dick's Bicycle Shop, will hold a bicycle safety rally from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. The rally will be held outdoors at the American Legion Post at 6525 Ward Road in Sanborn.

Children will be able to have their bicycles checked for safety, decorate their bikes and check their riding skills on a bicycle obstacle course. Dick's Bicycle Shop will have skilled mechanics available to address any mechanical concerns. Additionally, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office will be performing courtesy children's car seat inspections, as well as addressing the legal requirements for riding bicycles in Niagara County.

All children up to 12 years of age are welcome to participate in this free event. Refreshments will be available for participants and children can enter a drawing for gifts and prizes.
