Join the Karat Dig on June 2

The Niagara Floral Center and Greenhouse at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara will hold its third Karat Dig fundraising event on Thursday, June 2.

The Karat Dig: A Garden and Home Décor Raffle will run from 3 to 8 p.m. at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara's Wheatfield location, 2510 Niagara Falls Blvd., between Sy and Witmer roads.

Niagara Frontier Publications, KeyBank, Ingram Micro, Local Edge and the Niagara Gazette are sponsoring the evening, which is chaired by Ona Sherman of Youngstown. Admission is $10 (check, cash or credit cards accepted) and includes the first 25 basket auction tickets. You do not need to be present to win. Tickets are available at the door or presale at Northern Customs Services Inc., 908 Center St., Lewiston, and all administrative offices for Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara, which are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, at 1555 Fashion Outlet Blvd., Town of Niagara; both 2510 and 2393 Niagara Falls Blvd., in Wheatfield, and 107 Heath St., Lockport. The Garden and Home Décor basket auction features more than 100 upscale baskets, each valued at $75 or more. Items include garden tools, plants, landscape items, a barbecue, and indoor and outdoor decorations. The Karat Dig challenges participants to scoop up one of many pieces of jewelry and other treasures. Additional raffles will be available. Snacks will be available to purchase.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Niagara Floral Center and Greenhouse, which offers training and horticulture therapy to people with developmental disabilities. These individuals nurture the plants and create the arrangements that will also be for sale that evening and are available year-round.
