The traffic violation case of former Wheatfield Supervisor Tim Demler has been transferred to Niagara County Court for reassignment to another justice court.

Originally, Demler was to appear Tuesday in Wheatfield Town Court, but both town justices, John Mattio and Erin DeLabio, recused themselves.

Demler was stopped by Niagara County Sheriff's deputies May 4 on Shawnee Road near Lockport Road after a Department of Motor Vehicles check of the car's registration showed that it was suspended in March for an insurance lapse and that he had failed to respond to two traffic summons, one in Cheektowaga and one in Pendleton.

Demler said both the insurance and the traffic tickets had been paid.

Demler was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with its registration suspended and no inspection. He was taken to the Niagara County Jail, where he posted $250 bail.
