Brennan's Irish Pub, a popular Village of Youngstown restaurant, is reopening at 418 Main St.

Owner Gary Brennan has applied for a liquor license from the state of New York, and said this week his new eatery would open toward the start of summer. The business title on the application form reads "Brennan's Main Street Station."

Brennan had closed his business in 2007 due to personal health concerns. In 2009, he leased the building to Rose Wiktor, who transformed the building into "The Irish Rose" before leaving in September 2010.

Subsequently, the establishment has been sitting idle for six months. But now, "My health is better; I have a 16-year-old that wants to work," Brennan said. "I just want to get back in the business."

He noted the popularity of his eatery's Facebook page.

"I got tons of Facebook hits saying, 'Is it true you're coming back?' " Brennan said.

Toward the end of Brennan's previous stint - and that of The Irish Rose - the restaurant was divided into two parts: a dining room and a bar. The business owner said his new endeavor would initially be scaled down - or "slow and small," as he put it.

When Brennan's reopens, patrons will dine in the building's bar side, instead of the previous dining room area. Brennan, however, stressed the restaurant will offer family dining.

Brennan's was known for its unique pizza recipes and for its gourmet chicken wings.
