The Niagara Hospice Alliance wrapped up its 2011 Spring Bouquet Sale last Saturday at businesses and organizations throughout Niagara County. Throughout last week, for a donation of $8 people walked away with a beautiful and fragrant mixed bouquet of flowers.

"This year's sale was especially meaningful when we saw the outpouring of support from our Niagara Hospice friends and family members who wanted to brighten the day for someone else by donating their bouquets," said Hospice Event Coordinator Mandy Raff.

Raff said many out-of-town supporters chose the option to purchase bouquets to be donated to Niagara Hospice patients and to local veterans. As a result, every Niagara Hospice patient received a bouquet. Five hundred bouquets were also delivered to the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station to be distributed among active duty personnel of the 914th and 107th air wings at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

With the support of Niagara County businesses and sponsors M&T Bank and Grand Tours-Ridge Road Express, the project's proceeds benefit Niagara Hospice and its mission of caring for terminally ill patients and providing support services to their families.

Niagara Hospice Director of Volunteer Services Alice Beck added: "We could never have accomplished such a successful fundraiser without the help of over 100 Hospice and community volunteers. On behalf of everyone at Hospice and the many families we serve each day, we thank every volunteer who donated their time and energy during a very cold, wintry week."

Any Niagara County church, school or business that did not participate in this year's sale but would like to consider helping Niagara Hospice next year should contact Raff at 280-0766.

Niagara Hospice provides physical, emotional, spiritual, and bereavement services to those facing life's final journey. Last year, Niagara Hospice cared for more than 900 families faced with end-of-life situations. No one is ever denied hospice care due to ability to pay. The Niagara Hospice Alliance raises funds to offset costs for individuals who are under or uninsured. For more information visit www.NiagaraHospice.org or call Niagara Hospice at 439-4417.
