County Legislature supports Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council

On Tuesday, Feb. 15, members of the Niagara County Legislature presented a $10,000 check to the Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council to help support its binational events happening in 2012-14. The presentation took place in front of the 1812-2012 Old Military Road sign on Main Street in Youngstown.

The Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council is a cross-border, not-for-profit organization established to commemorate the War of 1812 and celebrate the 200 years of peace Canada and the U.S. have enjoyed following this war.

The presentation was attended by representatives from the Niagara County Legislature, the Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council, the Town of Porter and uniformed 1812 soldiers from Old Fort Niagara.
