Penn Dixie invites you to travel along with dinosaur collector Glen LaPlaca, of Past & Present Science & Nature Store & Fossil Gallery in Blasdell, through his presentation on the complete adventure of dinosaur collecting in South Dakota. He will share his entire experience from his September 2010 journey, including side trips to the Black Hills and other related sites.  His presentation will be on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Gateway Executive Office at 3556 Lake Shore Road, Blasdell, adjacent to Woodlawn Beach State Park.

Fifteen years of excavating duckbilled dinosaurs at this Hell Creek formation bone bed has revealed a wealth of information about the interaction of dinosaurs and their surroundings during the late Cretaceous period. Come and discover the good, the bad and the ugly of excavations throughout the years.

LaPlaca will have some of the actual bones and teeth from the excavation on display for this talk. This is an opportunity to learn how dinosaur remains are found, excavated, prepared in the field for transport, and to talk with an actual dinosaur hunter from Western New York.

The presentation is open to the public and no pre-registration is required.  Children, students, scouts, families and groups are welcome.  Penn Dixie members are free, while non-members are $4 each.  Call 627-4560 for information and directions.
