State Assemblyman John D. Ceretto, I, R, 138th District, Lewiston, announced he has been appointed as the ranking Republican member of the Assembly Committee on Cities by Assembly Republican Leader Brian M. Kolb R, I, C-Canandaigua. Ceretto will also serve on the Election Law, Environmental Conservation, Housing and Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development committees.

"As the ranking Republican member of the Assembly Committee on Cities, I will work to revitalize upstate cities like Niagara Falls, North Tonawanda and Lockport in order to promote business development and the creation of private-sector jobs," Ceretto said. "By investing in our cities and capping and cutting taxes, the legislature will send an important message to private investors and companies that New York state is open for business."

"Assemblyman Ceretto understands the economic problems facing Western New York and knows what needs to be done in Albany to turn the state economy around and help bring good-paying, private-sector jobs to Western New York," said Kolb. "His leadership and service on the Assembly Committee on Cities will ensure our urban centers have a dedicated voice in Albany fighting for public policies that create jobs and improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers."

Following on his pledge to help create jobs and strengthen Western New York's economy Ceretto will be advocating for capping and cutting taxes, lowering energy costs and reducing taxes for manufacturers.

Earlier this week, Ceretto reported on the opening of his district office in Niagara Falls.

"I am pleased to announce the opening of my office and I look forward to meeting with the men and women of the 138th Assembly District to discuss state and local issues and address any concerns or questions they may have," said Ceretto.

Located at 1700 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Phone is 282-6062; Fax, 282-4226; and e-mail, [email protected].

Ceretto adds that no constituent case files were turned over to him by former Assemblywoman Francine DelMonte during the transition period. His is encouraging constituents who have had outstanding casework with the former assemblywoman to contact his district office.
