Daisy, the mixed pointer puppy who was severely beaten with a table leg, has been medically cleared for adoption and is ready for a new family.

Her injuries -- a broken shoulder and broken leg -- required extensive surgery and confinement in a small crate for the past eight weeks to restrict her movements.

Applications for her adoption are being accepted at the SPCA of Niagara, 2100 Lockport Road, Wheatfield, and on the agency's website at www.niagaraspca.org through Oct. 2.

Response from the public to help Daisy has been overwhelming, with more than $15,000 raised for The Daisy Fund. The fund will help treat victims of animal abuse and also be used in investigating and prosecuting animal abusers.
