The Niagara County Community College Foundation has named two Distinguished Alumni to co-chair the annual Scholarship Gala -- State Sen. George Maziarz, '74, and Richard Winter, '74, along with their wives, Beverly Maziarz and Peggy Sekera Winter.

The Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Maziarz in 1996 and to Winter in 2005.

The gala will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, on the NCCC Sanborn campus.

The gala raises funds for student scholarships, recognizes Distinguished Student Scholarship honorees, and honors alumni with awards, including the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Norman Sinclair Community Service Award.

This year will feature a gourmet cuisine prepared by NCCC's culinary arts and baking and pastry arts students, recognition of distinguished student scholarship winners and basket, silent and live auctions. Local pop/rock band Reflector will perform.

The NCCC Foundation has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to deserving students since its inception in 1987. Tickets for the gala are $100 per person and are available by contacting the NCCC Foundation office at 614-5910.
