Call to 'Nutcracker' auditions

On Saturday, Sept. 18, the Greater Niagara Ballet Company will
hold open auditions for its holiday production of "The Nutcracker."
The schedule is as follows:
Character
Dancers
- 9 to 9:45 a.m.: girls and boys ages 6 to 10; dancers and
non-dancers needed; no experience necessary. Roles available include party
scene, grand march children.
- 9:45 to 10:30 a.m.: girls and boys ages 8 to 12; dancers and
non-dancers needed; no experience necessary. Roles available include the battle
scene, mice and soldiers.
- 10:30 to 11 a.m.: girls and boys ages 8 to 10; dance and
gymnastics background preferred. Roles available include bon-bons, Arabian
handmaidens and man servants.
- 11 to 11:30 a.m.: girls and boys ages 12 and up; dancers and
non-dancers needed; no experience necessary. Roles available include Act I
party scene (maids and butler) and Act II jesters (gymnastics required).
To be considered for the role of either Clara or Fritz, dancers
must attend auditions for other roles
Corps
de Ballet/Soloists
- 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.: girls/women and boys/men ages 12 and up;
dance background needed (females must have strong pointe skills). Roles
available include corps (waltz of the flowers, snowflakes, Russian and Chinese)
and solo (harlequin, columbine, drummers, dew drop, Spanish, candy canes,
Chinese, Russian and Arabian).
Auditions will be held at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center,
1201 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls. Enter through purple door in proper dance
attire, 20 minutes before your audition time.
The audition fee is $35 (GNBC members $30). For more information,

"The Nutcracker" is on stage Dec. 10-11 (U.S.
performances only).
