14th Buddy Walk part of Peach Festival parade

Local professional musician Sujeet Desai will lead the 14th annual Buddy Walk of Buffalo Niagara on Saturday, Sept. 11, in the Lewiston Kiwanis Peach Festival Parade.

Desai, 29, will walk with many individuals born with Down syndrome and their families and friends to spread the Buddy Walk message, "that given opportunities, individuals with disabilities do succeed!"

Desai plays seven instruments. In 2001, he graduated from high school with honors and in 2003 from the Berkshire Hills Music Academy in Massachusetts, followed by a two-year residential post secondary study in music and human services. He has established a professional career in music and performs worldwide solo concerts to spread his inspirational message of "Make It Happen," in addition to directing workshops in self-advocacy. He currently resides in North Tonawanda and performs locally in community churches, nursing homes, senior centers, and hospitals when not abroad. To listen to his music, visit www.sujeet.com.

Recently, he was honored by The National Down Syndrome Society as national spokesperson for Down syndrome and was selected as an ambassador by Down Syndrome International in London. Desai is a recipient of 11 international awards for his music and self-advocacy.
