The season continued in full swing at Ransomville Speedway last Friday night and featured a total of 99 cars.

Oh, so close to triple digits. The weather was picture perfect as sunny skies and comfortable temperatures greeted fans for a Halloween Fright Night of racing, presented by Collision Claim Central/RJM Auto Enterprises and Niagara Frontier Publications.

The headlining Mighty Taco Modified division lived up to its billing as drivers put on a fantastic show for the fans. Twenty-six strong ran two, three and even four wide through the 30-lap main with Pete Bicknell of St. Catharines, Ontario, taking his first win of 2010 at the Big R.

Just when it appeared as though Todd Burley was going to collect his third of the year, Mr. Smallblock said "no way," as he used a move to the inside of the Tornado on lap 26 to take over the point position. Bicknell went on to collect the win in the 30-lap main aboard his Lucas Oil-sponsored No. 42. Burley held on for second followed by Chad Brachmann, Steve Schumacher and Robbie Krull.

James Henry of Niagara Falls became the ninth different winner aboard the Original Pizza Logs Sportsman main with his win. Henry took the lead away from Steve Miller on lap 14 and was never seriously challenged after that point. Miller held on for second, followed by Nate Reynolds, Ryan Susice and Justin Wright.

Alex Morris, also of Niagara Falls, took a very popular and emotional win aboard the first 15-lap Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock main. Morris lost his mother earlier in the week and dedicated the win to her. An avid race fan, Yvonne Morris was in attendance on most Friday nights at the Big R, cheering on her sons and grandsons.

Webb Nashwinter, Brian Lonneville, Cory Sawyer and Brandon Sherwood rounded out the top five.

Jake Stefanski of Wheatfield captured his first-ever win at the Big R aboard the second 15-lap Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock main. Stefanski took the lead at the drop of the green and held it the entire 15 laps. Stefanski became the 16th different winner in the full fendered division. Billy Coleman, Scott Krull, Derrick Borkenhagen and Jaren Israel rounded out the top five.

Jim Stone of Ransomville collected his second Bobcat of Buffalo Firehall Enduro Series in a row aboard his No. 75 machine. Stone took the lead away from Ryan Stepenson on lap four and was never seriously challenged after that point. Stephenson, Jonathon Stoelting, Hoyt Desso and Gerry Gipp rounded out the top five.

Twin 100s highlight King Of The Hill Weekend

Ransomville Speedway, along with sponsors Investors Services and PJ Trailer Sales, are set to send the season out in style with the annual King of the Hill Weekend. Slated for Friday, Sept. 17, and Saturday, Sept. 18, the two-day event promises to be action packed with something for everyone.

"Bigger and better than ever!" says Tana Robinson, Big R public relations director. "The twin 100 format for Sportsman and Streetstocks is sure to make this year's event one of the most attended by both competitors and fans alike. We encourage those who have a camper to spend the weekend. Camping is always free at the Big R and the King of the Hill Weekend is a great opportunity to send the racing season out in style. A huge bonfire will end both Friday's and Saturday's events."

On Friday, PJ Trailer Sales will present the King of the Hill Qualifying Sportsman 25, Streetstock Twin 15's, Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers, Bobcat of Buffalo Firehall Enduro Series and Original Pizza Logs Micro Sprints. The top six from the Sportsman feature main will automatically transfer to one of the 12 re-draw positions on Saturday. Additionally, the top six from each Streetstock feature main will transfer to the 15 re-draw positions on Saturday. And the Gippsters Collision 4 Banger and Bobcat of Buffalo Firehall Enduro champions will be crowned for 2010.

Gates open at 5 p.m. in the pit area and 6 p.m. in the grandstands, with racing slated for 7:15 p.m.

Saturday's event is being presented by Investors Services and will feature twin 100s. The Sportsman 100 will pay a cool $2,000 to the winner while the Streetstock 100 winners' take will be $1,000. Filling the racing card is a Gippsters Collision 4 Banger/Bobcat of Buffalo Firehall Enduro Challenge and a 30-lap 358 Modified feature event. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. in both the pit area and grandstands with racing slated for 6 p.m.

In addition to the enhanced purses, laps are being sold for each of the twin 100s. Laps are $15 each with all monies being paid directly to the drivers. Lap money is disbursed randomly amongst the top 10 competitors throughout the features.
