A new program is being offered by the Orleans/Niagara BOCES Niagara Career and Technical Education Center this summer. A weeklong summer camp will expose students entering the fifth to eighth grades to different career opportunities.

Career and Tech Coordinator Anedda Trautman says it is never too early for children to start thinking about what they would like to be when they get out of school.

"Some children know what they want to be when they grow up, others really are not sure and this is a great way to expose them to several different career paths that might catch their interest or solidify it and possibly help them to determine what they might want to study in high school or college," says Trautman. "We are offering eight exciting classes and students get to chose four they would like to attend.  We have received a steady stream of applicants from Niagara and Erie counties, and we can't wait for their arrival on July 26."

The courses will include: CSI - Crime Scene Investigation, Engineering Design (robots), Foods of the World, Nanny 911, Runway to Fashion, Fast and Furious (CO2 cars), Spa Specialty and Aspiring Art Directors.

For a complete description of classes and to download the brochure and application, go online at www.onboces.org and click on NCTEC Summer Camp under the Quick Links on the front page.

The program will be offered from July 26 to 30 at the Niagara Career and Technical Education Center, 3181 Saunders Settlement Road in Sanborn and will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuition is $150. Registration is first come first serve.
