With the winds and rains of Hurricane Sandy pelting on the outside, the Village of Lewiston trustees and Lewiston Town Board met inside Monday at Lewiston Town Hall, and there were degrees of storminess felt at both sides of the table.

YMCA Buffalo Niagara has announces that online registration for the 117th annual YMCA Turkey Trot is now available. The race, held Thanksgiving morning (Thursday, Nov. 22) continues to be a sold out event every year. Online registration is available at www.ymcabuffaloniagara.org and will be available until noon on Nov. 15 or until capacity of 13,000 is reached.

The top 15 in the Mighty Taco Modifieds, Original Pizza Logs Sportsman and Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstocks were honored in addition to the top five in Bobcat of Buffalo Fireballs and top three in Gippster's Collision 4 Bangers.

The Town of Lewiston has news with regards to the Academy Park ice rink operations for the upcoming winter season. Leading off, the town reported at its Oct. 22 meeting it had reached agreement with national operator Ice Rinks 2 Go to manage a 60-day operation schedule for this winter at the Academy Park rink.

Recently, the Eyes on America Foundation, led by cataract surgeon Dr. Kenneth D. Anthone of Amherst, together with Mount St. Mary's anesthesiologist Dr. Jack Huebschmann of Youngstown, donated 20 cataract surgeries for Western New York patients without health insurance.
